Re: ME Hangs On Startup- UPDATE
So I added them back in and re-booted again. It wouldn't boot! I had to disable the card to re-boot. Back to square one... - if you still have problems with that I have just the thing for you, but you will need to haev all your hardware drivers ready, I didn't install W95 on this machine (DELL did),

Re: Help reinstalling Win98, please
Uninstall any hardware drivers listed in control panel, this is very important if you will be changing hardware. You may not be able to get the old drivers Probably not but it is a bear re-installing all that software again and re-setting up everything. I do wish MS had a way of separating OS/hardware settings

Re: Installing Final Release of IE5
I still think Linux requires you to know things you don't need to know in Windows to install it, though. And Linux's well-documented lack of hardware drivers mean you're more likely to have installation problems with Linux. I've heard horror stories like this, and I can't help thinking there's just a little bit of

Re: S2380 Via Driver Upgrades
I
read my hardware's manuals. I tried un-installing and re-installing the hardware drivers for the keyboard and the soundcard. I checked all the products' website for driver updates. I even tried going back to my old 128-bit Creative SoundBlaster PCI soundcard, but my results were the same.

Re: Newbie: No Sound From USB MIDI Controller
So... why not just always make the ohci1394 and sbp2 modules available as an option in one of the hardware discovery menus whenever we're installing on a NewWorld Mac? Personally, I perfer being cautious about loading hardware drivers unconditionally, since there are often edge cases where they hang a machine.

Uninstalling IE4.0
And that's before we even start on hardware drivers. I am reluctant to recommend re-installing from scratch as a general cure for poor performance because of the risk that the user will end up with a non-functioning system. If I was on-site to handhold them, the answer would be very different.

Re: DVD /CD Rom Drive not recognised
Rant over, but seriolsy, check all your hardware drivers, I use win98 for games and the latest mb drivers work good, which the didn't after I 'upgraded' to DX 8.1 I agree, On booting it dropped to desktop, the movies wouldn't play properly on second boot, but re-installing drivers sorted it all out.

Re: re-installing
My computer is set to always install all hardware drivers, signed or unsigned. The installation seemed to work well (like usual), but nothing improved. So, remove VMware, then reboot, then make sure that you are logged on as an account with FULL administrator rights, then try re-installing VMware.

Re: Reinstall Operating System
If so why not just solve the hardware conflict issues by re-installing the drivers? Uninstalling an OS is a complex thing, and even if Microsoft got it to work on their test bench I would hesitate to say it would work in all cases. Once you have installed new hardware drivers, re-configured the network,

Re: Re-installing Win 95 again.
I've tried re-installing all SB PCI 128 drivers from CD. The computer detects the sound card, but it tells me there is a hardware conflict (I get the yellow exclamation mark in the Device Manager under 'PCI Communications Device'). I've tried removing the sound card from the device manager, and that's fine.

But DHCP has developed a hiccup and the browsers can't reliably download.

Re: Win95 so far unsolved problems...
To remedy this, I have tried: - Reinstalling the device drivers and software from the CD-ROM (uninstalling first) - Isolating IRQ 5 and other interrupts the card uses by disabling other devices, then uninstalling/reinstalling drivers - Disabling C-Media built-in audio hardware, then uninstalling/reinstalling

Re: Intercast WON'T install
So you lose any program registry info and have to re-install them anyway, but you don't have the space benefit that you'll get by re-formatting. backup the .ini files from c:windows so that you keep your program config settings, make sure you've got disks or copies of all your hardware drivers, oh,

Re: Latest fatal crash
If you're simply re-formatting the hdd and re-installing all of the stuff you've mentioned, then you'll never find the cause of the problem. Try upgrading to the latest drivers for all of your hardware. -- * WARNING * Reply address may contain anti spam. Kevin Mouton Automotive Instructor
